Purpose:

The Director of Technical Operations (DTO) is directly responsible to the Vice President of Maintenance for the overall management of the repair stations MRO and CR&O maintenance department.

 

Major duties include but are not limited to:

  • Work with the Vice President of Maintenance and Chief Inspector to establish the policies and procedures outlined in the Berry Aviation, Inc Repair Station Quality Manual (RSQM) as they relate to the functions of the repair station maintenance department.
  • Remain current with the contents of Berry Aviation, Inc Repair Station Quality Manual (RSQM) and subsequent revisions, applicable Federal Aviation Regulations and other company policies and procedures as required to ensure regulatory compliance in area of responsibility.
  • Work with the Vice President of Maintenance to determine annual budgetary requirements (tooling, equipment, staffing) for the repair station maintenance department.

  • Plan, direct and control the overall activities of the Aircraft Maintenance, NDI, and Component Departments. Rely upon his/her managers, supervisors and/or assigned personnel for assistance in administrating the daily operational activities of the repair station Maintenance Departments.
  • Coordination with the Training and Quality Departments to ensure adequate training programs (initial & recurrent) have been established for all personnel in regards to the maintenance, preventive maintenance, overhaul, and/or alteration of civil aviation articles that the repair station has been rated for.
  • Hiring and management of all repair station maintenance personnel as assigned. This should include ensuring annual performance reviews are completed for all maintenance personnel.
  • Ensure that planning, direction, and coordination of work received within the Aircraft Maintenance, NDI, and Component Departments is accomplished. This includes allocation of maintenance personnel to ensure work will be completed per customer requested turn time.
  • Ensure maintenance personnel have and use the most current aircraft/component manufactures maintenance manuals, technical data, and required forms during maintenance/overhaul of civil aviation articles that the repair station has been rated for.
  • Any other job-related duties as assigned by the Vice President of Maintenance.

 

The Director of Technical Operations may delegate any or all of his/her duties, as deems necessary; however such delegation does not relieve the Director of Technical Operations of the overall responsibility.

 

Experience and Skills:

 

Qualifications:

  • Hold a valid Mechanic’s Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant ratings.
  • Have 6 years of experience in maintaining aircraft as a certificated mechanic of the same category and class as the certificate holder uses or maintains, one year of which must have been as maintenance inspector.
  • Have at least one year of experience in a supervisory capacity maintaining the similar category and class of aircraft as the certificate holder uses or maintains.
