Purpose of the job:

Shall serve as Second in Command (SIC) on SA227 (or other as assigned) aircraft based at North Island Naval Air Station.


List of Duties:

  1. Administratively reports to the Site Manager and Chief Pilot
  2. Reports directly to the Pilot in Command during flight operations for which they are assigned
  3. Monitors and assists in loading of passengers and cargo in accordance with FAA and BAI policies
  4. Administers passenger briefings in accordance with FAA and BAI policies
  5. Prepares weight and balance calculations and completes load manifest in accordance with BAI policies
  6. Assist the Pilot in Command with flying of the aircraft by either providing a support role or actual hands on flying, as directed by the Pilot in Command
  7. Must successfully complete all company initial and recurrent training and testing as directed by the training department
  8. Assist in loading and unloading of aircraft during minimal ground personnel operations.
  9. Other duties as assigned by the Site Manager or Chief Pilot

Experience and Skills:

Minimum years of experience necessary to perform essential functions of the job:

6 months to 1 year


Minimum education level to perform essential functions of the job:

High School Diploma


Unique skills or certifications needed to perform essential functions of the job:

  • Must possess FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate with Instrument and Multi Engine Rating
  • Minimum 600 Hrs flight experience (1000 Preferred)
  • Minimum 25 Hrs Multi Engine experience (50+ Preferred)
  • Current FAA First or Second Class Medical Certificate
  • FCC Restricted Telephone Operators License
  • Legally Authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Ability to pass FAA Background Screening and TSA Approval
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills


Physical requirements of the job:

  • Ability to work in confined spaces
  • Ability to manipulate, push, pull, and lift heavy objects in excess of 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to reach and stretch across objects and twist within confined spaces
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures, including cold and heat
  • Ability to work in altitudes higher than sea level
  • Ability to remain in a seating position for extended periods


Resource Responsibilities

Management or supervisory responsibility of the job:

Ability to directly supervise loading and unloading of aircraft and give directions to ground personnel when required


Typical decisions made by incumbent:

Must act in accordance with all FAA, BAI and ICAO policies and procedures as an aircraft pilot


Financial resource responsibilities:

Must prepare monthly expense reports when necessary for personal expenses spent on behalf of BAI
